Lauren Cain

Community Manager

Lauren has over 20 years experience in marketing and communications, running the gamut from small not for profits to global corporate institutions. Starting out in the time before social media, Lauren started her career in media and broadcast journalism before falling down the social media tunnel and becoming a leader in bringing established organisations into the new world of social communication and messaging. This work led to work and life relocating to London where working in the world of rapid-fire start-up culture and then into the world of design at the Design Council left a lasting impact, and brought a new way of working – human centred design and the design thinking process. This approach has been deeply rewarding and enriching, both personally and for the teams Lauren has since led back in Australia, bringing to life new financial products to a cluttered, grudge-inclined purchase market, as well as delivering award winning brand marketing campaigns to a national mass media audience.

Bringing people together, whether via building national conversation around pop culture references or shepherding trauma-fraught communities hit by weather events is a deep passion, and continues to drive Lauren today. After the birth of her daughters and while on maternity leave Lauren started her own business making dinners for new parents who lived locally, building product lines now sold in retail outlets, before being so enthralled with the Global Sisters organisation that she begged them to take her on as their Community Manager. Thankfully, they agreed.
