Social Impact Advocacy Coordinator

Juanita a fearless advocate for womens’ financial security and equity and has written several papers on the subject of experiencing systemic barriers and poverty through the welfare system, the child support system and age discrimination . She was the first person in Australia to launch an individual complaint (in conjunction with the National Council of Single Mothers and their Children) to the United Nations using the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) optional protocol against the Australian government’s harmful Parenting Payment Single policy. Juanita gives voice to others and highlights policy gaps, challenges and social norms surrounding women’s unpaid labour through blogs public speaking and volunteering in this space. She recently completed a Master of International Community Development with a focus on women’s financial security, and has 25 years working in the not for profit sector across Australia, Hong Kong and the UK.  Ten years of being a single mother to three boys whilst studying and working also allows Juanita to contribute tremendous insights into unseen systemic and financial barriers women face that contribute to our program design and outcomes measurements.
