Sufia Alamgir knows how important it is for kids to get the right start when it comes to learning to read. After years of teaching and researching how best to teach reading to children this year she created a business – Sound Spell, offering services to help parents teach reading to their children.

Her program is aimed at helping mothers by giving them the tools and confidence to help their children learn the most basic and fundamental skill in education.
The name ‘Sound Spell’ represents Sufia’s approach to helping parents and their children learn to read and spell in the most thorough way.

“I thought of this name because it best describes my system and what I focus on,” Sufia says. “Sound Spell has three meanings: spelling that is sound or good, spell the sound, and finally putting a spell or magic on a sound. I thought of this name because it best describes my system and what I focus on. I have simplified a vast subject to make it easier for people to gain clarity.”

Sufia is passionate about education and plans to create more educational courses in the future.

At present she offers her services in libraries and on a teaching platform and sees the need for Sound Spell to grow. “My goal is to make this program available to every person in Australia who needs it,” she says.

Sufia says that being a Sister in Sister Tribe connects her with like-minded sisters and helps make grass roots change in society.
