Sculptures of the Earth is Shahla Namvar’s business, offering handcrafted items from only natural materials such as wood, leather and shells.

Based in the Sutherland shire region of Sydney, Shahla first came to Australia from Iran in 1989 after the country’s eight-year-long war with Iraq. Shahla started her business in 2018, aiming to create items that bring ‘outside beauty inside the house, so you can enjoy it all the time’. Shahla has dreamt of making her small sculptures on a commercial level for a long time. “I’ve always loved the beauty of nature,” she says. “I make these handicrafts with my hands and receive a lot of enjoyment from it.” Creating things is her passion and Shahla prides herself on her strong work ethic: “I do everything with excellence, put lots of love into whatever I’m making, with great attention to detail.”

For the moment she’s a sole trader but Shahla imagines one day getting her husband on board Sculptures of the Earth. She currently sells via word of mouth to friends and friends of friends, planning to launch her business and offer her wares online shortly.

“I knew I could reach my dream with the help of Global Sisters,” she says.
