Our inspiring sister Huong, born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has long nurtured a love of and impressive talent for sewing. But since she began sewing at age 18, Huong has faced many challenges.
She lost her mother at age 19, gave birth to her first child at 25, then tragically lost her husband to cancer six years later. In 2013, Huong migrated to Australia – she had found love again and remarried.
Huong and her husband now live in Melbourne with her son, and her husband’s three children in a 3-bedroom government housing estate – a big family in a small space, but Huong has been able to start sewing again, and is overjoyed.
Now a part of the Global Sisters family, Huong’s bright and beautiful hand-sewn pieces are available through our web store. Each sale directly supports the financial independence of this boundlessly determined and resilient woman and her family.
