Brisbane-based Aysha Navlakhi runs Events by Aysha, a business she established in 2017, offering a range of products along with events styling and catering services. Creating Events by Aysha was a natural progression for Aysha since she was already regularly cooking and helping out at events like school functions, kids’ parties and even weddings.

Hospitality is a family tradition in her family; Ayshas been cooking since the age of ten. Aysha describes her cuisine as ‘contemporary Indian/ South African fusion.’ Her halal product range currently includes dips, chutneys, pickles, relishes and ready-to-eat meals. Processed meats and marinades are in the pipeline. Events by Aysha can cater on site offering a full menu package or customers can utilise a pick-up service. Aysha’s business motto is ‘Catering with Simplicity & Elegance’.

So far Aysha’s attracting business through word-of-mouth – she caters regularly at her children’s school, and for corporations such as Shell Australia and Queensland Police Services. Aysha has big plans for her business: she wants to build a commercial kitchen capable of servicing the needs of large functions, upwards of 250 people. Not only that, she wants to produce a deli range, run weekend breakfasts at her property, plant an organic herb garden and keep bees!

Sister Tribe, Aysha says, is a ‘true sisterhood.’ “I love being amongst woman who are moving ahead and sharing their knowledge and expertise with each other.”
